Standard, commercially-available pencils of maximum diameter 6mm should be used for this attempt.
At the start of the attempt, pencils should be lying down flat, and not touching one another in any way, on a hard, flat stacking surface.
Only one pencil may be picked up and stood on end at a time. Only one hand may be used; the challengers other hand must be behind his or her back at all times during the attempt.
Before the start of the one minute stacking period, the challengers stacking hand must be flat on the table and not touching any of the pencils.
Pencils must remain standing for a minimum of 5 seconds after the one minute stacking period to be counted.
