About This Challenge

The fastest time to arrange a deck of shuffled playing cards is 36.16 sec achieved by Zdenek Bradac (Czech Republic) in Sheffield Castle College, South Yorkshire, UK, on 15 May 2008.

Challenge Rules

  • Standard commercially available playing cards should be used.
  • To start the attempt, a witness must remove the cards from their packaging, extract the jokers and perform at least five full shuffles of the deck. The shuffled cards should then be fanned towards the camera.
  • The cards are to be placed on a table in front of the participant in a stack.
  • The challenger may pick up cards only after start signal.
  • The order for the cards to be placed down on the table is as follows; Ace, through ten, Jack, Queen, and King of Diamonds. Repeat for clubs, hearts & then spades.
  • If a card or cards fall from the deck or the challengers hands, the attempt is void.
  • When the challenger is satisfied that the cards are successfully arranged in order, the deck must be placed as a stack on the table, at which point the timer is stopped.
  • The witness must then check that the cards are in the order stated above, clearly showing this on the video recording.
