Dear GWR, the successful attempt begins at 9:03 and the time after the successful attempt is to prove evidence. Please note that I wiggle the cups immediately before starting, to prove that they are not touching. I have also attempted tallest alternating coffee cup tower in 30 seconds. It seems my measurements for THAT attempt were very slightly different to some measurements for THIS attempt. It can be hard to tell, when I am holding the video camera in my hand. May I suggest cross-checking the measurements for accuracy? The point at which I place the last cup is within the timed period. The top cup is 85mm tall. The 2 polystyrene cups are 105m tall each. The transparent cups are measured at 106mm tall in this attempt, but 107mm tall in the other attempt. Likewise, the coloured cups are measured at 104mm tall in this attempt and at 105mm tall in the 30-attempt. I will leave the final measurement up to GWR to decide. When measured according to the measurements in THIS attempt, the tower is 208.1cm tall. When

Tallest tower made from cups(100 mm) at higth of 200 cm.Hope will be breaking the current record.20 cups add on by on.No external support used.The height of the seiling is 4 m it was the half of the house.It was really fun to atempt to break this record.Thanks.More challenge breaking attempts coming soon.

My attempt was at my house in Hendersonville, TN. I used standard plastic cups that were apprx. 120mm tall. I stacked 16 cups in 1min. 16 x 120mm = 1,920mm = 192cm. NEW RECORD!

My attempt was at my house in Hendersonville, TN. I placed 16 cups into a tower. Each cup was exactly 120mm in length and the rum was 95mm. 120mm X 16 cups =1920mm=192cm.

Hi Dan. I did this on 5 November 2011. My video recorder simply does not have the ability to film in fisheye mode or to capture the width required for this attempt. So I did the best I can, by going to some lengths to show that I was the only one present, and that the measurements I took were accurate. I still have those cups with me and I can re-measure them with greater clarity in another video if required.

About This Challenge

The tallest alternating coffee cup tower in one minute is 209.9 centimeters, achieved by Silvio Sabba (Italy), in Pioltello, Milan, Italy, on 29 May 2012.

Challenge Rules

Any type of commercially available plastic/paper/polystyrene cups may be used for this attempt, with maximum height 120mm, and maximum diameter at the rum 100mm.
At the beginning of the attempt, the cups must be laid out in the stacking area, completely separated from one another.
Then, the cups must be stacked vertically, one at a time, alternating upside-down/right-side-up, starting with the first cup being rim-side down on the floor.
Only one hand may be used for the stacking. No glues, water, or other adhesive may be used to hold the stack together, not may any external support be used.
The stack must remain standing for a minimum of 5 seconds after the one minute period is over, and then measured in height using a suitable tape measure.
